The concept behind Field Office is simple; it serves as an office-out-of-the-office. South African product designers Pedersen + Lennard first opened the space in Barrack Street to show off some of their slick furniture and smaller household items. Recently they expanded to The Woodstock Exchange, which now hosts the new Field Office, as well as the Pedersen + Lennard factory and office.
The Field Office in Barrack Street is tucked away in one of the last peaceful parts of the buzzy CBD, which makes it the perfect place to do some serious work, have an important meeting, or just enjoy a quiet lunch.
If you’re looking for a more social atmosphere, head to the Field Office in The Woodstock Exchange. Apart from the Pedersen + Lennard showroom inside, you could spend ages browsing around the other studios and shops. Even though the space is surrounded by distractions, it’s in a quiet corner and is a great location for meetings.
Both Field Offices were designed as an ideal work atmosphere, so you’ll get loads done. It’s basically an office, but without the awful yellow lighting, boring furniture or needy co-workers. Also, the coffee here is much better than the usual watered down office-brew.
Both serve Deluxe coffees and freshly-squeezed juices. Of course, there is fast, free Wi-Fi too. Both also offer light lunches like sandwiches, pies, soups and salads, as well as pastries and treats. Everything on offer is locally sourced and hand-made in small quantities. Their food is also office-friendly, and demands no cutlery, bibs or breath mints.
You could easily pop in for a quick coffee or lunch, since, technically, you’ll still be in the ‘office’.
