International LIVE ART Festival Returns

Save the Date for Africa’s Greatest Performance Art Platform

The Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) announced the dates for the international LIVE ART Festival showcasing a gathering of some of the most influential artists from across the continent and around the world. Get ready for an explosion of performances set to push the boundaries of audiences and artists alike with the City of Cape Town set as the stage. This powerful range of public, collaborative and often transgressive performative artworks will disrupt public spaces across the Mother City from 1 to 16 September 2018, FREE of charge to all.

The stellar programme delivers a rare selection of cutting edge visual art and challenging performances of dance, music and literature that combine to form a dynamic and provocative theatrical journey across the Mother City, unique to the ICA LIVE ART Festival.

This fascinating collection of visceral adventures transports audiences into a creative world of theater often unknown in South African borders, navigating the public to the corners of their comfort zones. LIVE ART 2018 offers audiences an immersive experience to connect with relevant issues confronting society on an exploration of the imagination that embraces the outer-limits of society.

The free and public nature of the LIVE ART Festival is vested in a commitment to the value of contemporary live art as a means of facilitating encounters that encourage people to think and feel new and different about a range of important issues.

LIVE ART performances will tour across various Mother City public venues – from the University of Cape Town, to Iziko National Galleries, Zeitz MOCAA, and other spaces in the city centre, such as the Cape Town Station, the Company’s Garden, the Planetarium, the Castle of Good Hope and more.

All performances from 1 to 16 September are FREE of charge to all Cape Town residents.

Program details will be announced soon.
